Planting for pollinators is a fun way to work with native species and make use of some of the empty spaces you may have! Your pollinator garden can be as big as your lawn or as small as a container. 

Creating a new garden can be difficult and confusing, our staff has compiled some helpful tips when it comes to planting for pollinators. 

Plant a variety of species -this will attract a variety of pollinators which will make your garden thrive!

Native species will never be invasive –natives know how to behave in any area that they are planted.

Plant continuous bloom – blooms throughout the season help the pollinators keep busy at work!

Keep nesting supplies close by – Keeping nesting tools in or around your garden that will help insects create nests and lay eggs. This can include flaking bark or wood for bees, milkweed for butterflies, leaves, or dandelions for hummingbirds.

Avoid any pesticide use – Pollinators hate pesticides so much they’ll die, it is crucial to avoid any pesticide use if you want a successful pollinator garden.
